When it comes to giving an estimate price per square meter (m2) for paving, it can be difficult as there are many variables that can affect the price considerably, namely:
- The size of job - (Area - m2). The bigger the area the cheaper the cost becomes per m2. Economy of scale.
- The design - The more complex the design the more it will cost.
- The type of surface you’re wanting - Asphalt, Bitmac, Block paving, Flags, Concrete, Gravel, all of these vary greatly in cost per m2.
- Ground conditions - Water logged, hard ground, sloping, existing structures all of which affect costs as poor ground conditions need additional supporting layers.
- The traffic the surface will be subjected too - Patios are normally designed for only people traffic where driveways are designed for heavier vehicle traffic up to 3000kg, these require different foundation layers to support the loading and therefore will affect the cost.
- Where you live - in the country where access is difficult and far from suppliers. This has an impact on the cost of transportation.
- Drainage - If you have an area where the surface water will run towards a building or onto a public road then you will in all likelihood need some sort of drainage system installed.
- Extra's
With all the above in mind one can understand that it is very difficult to give a universal cost per m2 (square meter).
Below I have tried to give you a few examples of some theoretical projects with a break down of the main costs and the overall cost per m2.
In order for you to get a good estimation of cost, please give me a call (Renier) and I can talk you through your requirements over the phone and can give you a rough estimate based on the information you have provided.
If you are happy with this estimation you can then book an appointment for a no obligation quotation where I will come to your home and measure your project and provide you with an accurate no obligation quotation which you will receive within 24 hours after me measuring the works.
